NIMASA Delivers Institute of Marine, Transport Technology Building to UNIPORT

The Management of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), on Wednesday handed over the ultra-modern complex housing the Institute of Marine and Transport Technology to the management of the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Maritime workers to shut seaports for NLC protest

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria said it will join the two-day nationwide protest being organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress.

This was contained in a statement on Monday by the Head of Media, MWUN, Kennedy Ikemefuna.

Ikemefuna said the move was necessary following the directive of NLC that its affiliate members across the nation should strictly comply.

Nigerian Maritime Industry Gets ITF-UK Grant For Construction Of Seafarers Recreation Centre

The International Transport Workers’ Federation UK (ITF-UK) said it has approved a grant to the Nigerian Maritime Industry through the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, (MWUN) for the construction of a Seafarers Recreation Centre in Lagos State.

Maritime Security: USCG to Work with NIMASA on Removal of COE

The United States Coast Guard USCG, has offered Nigeria a three-year plan to work with the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA for the removal of the Condition of Entry (CoE), placed on American-bound vessels from Nigeria.

Port economic regulatory agency bill passes second reading

The Nigerian Shipping and Port Economic Regulatory Agency Bill 2023 has passed second reading at the House of Representatives. The Bill seeks to repeal the Nigerian Shippers’ Council Act Cap N133 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN), and enact the Nigerian Shipping and Port Economic Regulatory Agency Act.

NIMASA: Apapa Port’s modular floating dock installation set

The Nigerian Maritime and Safety Administration (NIMASA) has initiated the preparatory phase for deploying the modular floating dock at Apapa Continental Shipyard.

Bashir Jamoh, the director-general, made this announcement in a statement released on Wednesday, February 14, in Lagos.

FG plans to revive national shipping line

The Federal Government is working towards the re-establishment of a National Shipping Line through a strategic Public Private Partnership arrangement, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola has said.
