The Nigerian Copyright Commission has seized three shipping containers of 3,000 cartons of pirated books with a conservative market value of over N300m.
The Director-General of the commission, Dr John Asein, disclosed this in a press statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Sunday.
Asein said the containers were intercepted in collaboration with NCC enforcement partners – the Nigeria Customs Service and the Department of State Services – at Onne Port, Rivers State.… Read the rest

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council, NSC, said it has approved negotiated and reviewed haulage rates from Eastern ports to various destinations in the country.
The rates approved were in consideration of cost moderation, cargo transport issues and acceptable by all parties, including freight forwarders and truck owners.
Addressing the meeting in Lagos, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of NSC, Pius Akutah, commended the stakeholders for their concerted efforts during the negotiation.… Read the rest
THE former Director-General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr Dakuku Peterside, has said that implementating attractive roadmap policy framework will boost blue economy.

Secretary General of the Maritime Organisation of West and Central Africa (MOWCA), Dr. Paul Adalikwu, has stepped up interaction with the United States Government to lift restrictions placed on some member countries allegedly implicated in illicit shipping activities.

The new Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola formally resumed office on Friday, promising to prioritise effective communication at all levels to enhance innovation, collaboration and synergy.

The House Committee on Shipping Services of the House of Representatives has assured that the new Shippers Council bill which has past the second reading at the lower chamber will be signed into law by June this year.
