The Nigerian Ports Authority has secured a $700 million loan from Citibank and funded the United Kingdom Export Finance to rehabilitate the Apapa and Tincan Island Ports in Lagos.

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced a $1 billion reconstruction plan for Tincan Island, Apapa, Rivers, Onne, Warri, and Calabar port complexes.
The NPA also allocated funds for similar reconstruction as part of the new port development plan for the Badagry deep seaport, Snake Island, Burutu, and Ondo deep seaports.

The Nigerian Navy has arrested 75 stowaways in Nigeria waterways in nine months.
This is just as the service has raised the alarm of security threats to shipowners occasioned by the acts and called for caution.
The director of information, Naval headquarters, Commodore A. Adams-Aliu said the stowaways were apprehended between August 2023 to April 2024.

IN a bid to reduce congestion and encourage timely movement of export cargoes into ports in Lagos, the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, has opened a 72 hours access window to all export trucks within which to access various terminals.

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has approved, negotiated and reviewed haulage rates from Eastern ports to various destinations in the country.
The rates approved were in consideration of cost moderation and cargo transport issues. The negotiations were harmonious and the rates agreed upon were acceptable by all parties, including freight forwarders and truck owners.
