PENGASSAN faults under-utilisation of IOCs’ divested assets to Nigerian oil firms

The Petroleum Natural Gas and Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has raised the alarm over how some Nigerian oil companies are not adequately optimising assets that were divested to them by International Oil Companies (IOCs).

PENGASSAN revealed that a lot of local companies produce without a plan of how to develop the oil wells and increase production.

President of PENGASSAN, Festus Osifo, said this during the sideline of its just-concluded energy and labour summit in Abuja, where he lamented that this had been a huge challenge, following the divestment of assets by IOCs to Nigerian oil companies.

Seplat seeks to complete $1.3 billion ExxonMobil asset purchase deal – CEO

Nigeria’s biggest energy company by market value Seplat is upbeat it will be able to finalise talks with parties that will allow it to advance to the decisive stage of the deal to purchase ExxonMobil’s offshore shallow water business.

The acquisition is key to actualising the most ambitious move ever by Seplat, which is listed in both London and Lagos.

Nigeria’s daily oil production rises by 14% to 1.35mbpd

Daily oil production in Nigeria rose by 14 percent in September to 1.346 million barrels compared to 1.181 million barrels produced in August, latest data from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC, has revealed.

Despite the improvement, however, oil production remained significantly lower than the 2023 Budget benchmark of 1.69 million barrels per day and the OPEC quota of 1.7 million barrels per day.

Senate launches probe into crude oil theft, tasks five committees

The Senate has mandated its committees on Petroleum Resources, (Upstream, downstream,) Gas, Host communities and Niger Delta to conduct investigation on oil theft in the region.

It specifically mandated the committees to investigate the actions of security forces, militia groups, local populace, company employees, and any individuals or entities suspected to be using sophisticated methods to pilfer from oil facilities within the country.… Read the rest

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and other relevant organisations in the oil sector on Monday moved to resolve the major challenges faced in the importation and distribution of petroleum products across the country.

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Warri Zonal Office has sealed six petro retail outlets and an illegal gas refiling plant over sharp practices in Delta.

Gas must be the main driver of Nigeria’s energy transition – NGA

Akachukwu Nwokedi, president of the Nigeria Gas Association (NGA), has said gas has to be the main driver of Nigeria’s energy transition as many Nigerians do not have access to electricity.

He stated this while speaking at a panel session during the 2023 annual international conference of the Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria in Lagos.

Petrol Subsidy: Nigeria spent N4 trillion in 2022 – Official

NNPCL reacts to report of awarding control of pipelines to ‘cabal’
